TV Ratings Sunday

With the USA continuing to win medals in Vancouver, of course the Winter Olympics won the Sunday night ratings battle, while CBS’s Undercover Boss remained strong. The rest of the primetime competition recovered a bit from last Sunday.

The Winter Olympics 5.7 rating for adults 18-49 on Sunday night was up 4% from the same night of the Torino (2006) games, but down 19% from last Sunday’s telecast.

While still down vs. its season averages, Fox’s line up recovered substantially from last Sunday with The Simpsons up 15% to a 3.0 rating, The Cleveland Show up 17% to a 2.8 rating and American Dad up 12% to a 2.8 rating. Update: There was a short NASCAR overrun into the 7pm half hour in the East/Central.

While Extreme Makeover: Home Edition was up sharply (32%) vs. last Sunday to a 2.5 rating, the rest of ABC’s lineup was held down by the Olympics. Desperate Housewives 3.7 rating matched its series low rating from 1/31/10. Brother & Sisters recovered a bit (+4%) to a 2.5 rating vs. 1/31/10.

Undercover Boss continues to be a star for CBS. It fell just 8% from last week to a still strong 4.8 rating. Amazing Race was up 4% to a 2.9 rating, and even Cold Case was up 10% to a 2.3 rating.
