Dream Trailers: The 6 Best 'Inception' Parodies
When it comes to fertile territory for parody, "Inception," it turns out, is the dream trailer.
Leonardo DiCaprio's air-of-urgency voiceover. The succinctly simple plot description for a film that is anything but easy. And, to no small effect, Hans Zimmer's distinct synth sounds that pulse and thump-thump like the suspenseful march to an impending crescendo.
The instantly iconic trailer to Christopher "Dark Knight" Nolan's smash hit -- it's been tops at the box office nearly every single day since its July 16 release (including this weekend with $27.5 million domestic) -- has seemingly spawned more mashups than a Hitler meme. Many have come but few must be chosen.
The live-action spoofs have included "Conception" and "Perception," and everything from "Avatar" to "Willy Wonka" is getting incepted with DiCaprio's V.O. But there's one animated-character parody [below] that stands above all. And most mashups can't hold a candle to a good ol' Pixar invocation, though a couple others are quite good.
