Mad Men: 'Thally' Draper will be "beaten down"

Kiernan Shipka has revealed that her Mad Men character Sally will continue to struggle this season.

Sally recently received a new stepfather when her mother Betty (January Jones) married Henry (Christopher Stanley) following her divorce from Don (Jon Hamm).

"She has a very rocky ride this season," Shipka told the Chicago Tribune.

"In season three and season four, I feel Sally is very beaten down and she has to cope with the separation but she has to do it on her own with a lot of trial and error. I think she has so many feelings bottled up inside... It's hard for her to know who to trust because I feel the only person she can trust right now is herself."

However, Shipka added that Sally is "very strong" and "very brave" and revealed that she loves working on the show.

"Every script is so surprising," she said. "It's absolutely great to get such great material. The best feeling is that [creator] Matthew Weiner believes in me."

Mad Men continues on Sundays at 10/9c on AMC.
