'Teen Mom" is giving birth to a spinoff!

MTV's mega-popular show, which follows the lives of young, unmarried mothers, has chosen a cast for a spinoff series, sources say. The network has already cast its new "Teen Mom" series and has done some location shooting, sources say. It's believed that at least some of the women featured on the spinoff show have appeared on "16 and Pregnant."

"Teen Mom," which snared nearly 6 million viewers last Tuesday in its season finale, is itself a spinoff from "16 and Pregnant," which is also a proven ratings winner for MTV.

The new series would air separately from "Teen Mom," which will return for a third season with its cast intact.

Besides its second-season breakout hit "Jersey Shore," "Teen Mom" has been a ratings boon for MTV. It averaged 2.8 million viewers last season and brought in the young female viewers coveted by the network.

"16 and Pregnant" averaged nearly 3 million viewers last season and experienced similar demo ratings success.

According to radaronline.com, "Teen Mom" Amber Portwood and her on-again/off-again fiancee, Gary Shirley, were at a water park in Tennessee filming some scenes for the show's upcoming third season. Portwood made some "Teen Mom" headlines last season when she punched Shirley in the face and kicked him when he accused her of being a bad mother to their daughter, Leah (who was born when Portwood was on "16 and Pregnant"). Leah was unharmed in the melee.

"Teen Mom" also features Maci Bookout, Farrah Abraham and Catelynn Lowell, who've all become big celebrities in the reality show world.
